About Us Marisc Català, S.L. specialises in live bivalve molluscan shellfish depuration (purification), sales, import and export (incl. mussels, oysters, clams, sea snails, razor clams). We supply fresh products that can be distinguished by their high quality and delicious flavour. Our work always conforms to the strictest quality standards and regulations.
The Depuration Process
We use a closed circuit depuration (purification) system with biological filters, ozone, ultraviolet, skimmers and water cooling which let us control many parameters of the operation such as temperature and oxygen levels to speed up the depuration process and ensure the high quality of our products.
About Our Shellfish
Our shellfish is sold under the “Marisc Mediterrani” brand. We are distributors for large supermarkets, retail fish shops and restaurants throughout Spain and we also export our products to other countries including France and Italy.
• Marisc Català, S.L. is part of a group of companies that have been involved in the aquaculture industry and in shellfish production and handling for 25 years. They have their own production facilities in Bahía del Fangal, Delta del Ebro with capacity for 500,000 kg of Mediterranean mussels, 200,000 kg of Japanese oysters raised in 15 hatcheries that are 3000 m2 each.
How to open an oyster
While holding on to the oyster, put your thumb about one centimetre from the point of the knife. Insert the blade of the knife into the upper third part of the oyster shell and cut the muscle. After cutting the muscle slide the knife backwards until the shell can be opened easily.
